Level 2 System Engineer

Job summary:

Working in a team, your role as systems engineer means you are involved with a variety of clients in need of workstation and server support with exposure to cloud migration services. It’s a challenging and interesting position. Crimson Line is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018. The company is growing and it’s an exciting time to join.

Reporting to:

Team leader

Working conditions:

It’s a 50/50 split as to whether you spend time in the office or on-site with a client.

Job duties:

Handle simple tasks such as:

  • reloading of machine;
  • user creation;
  • resetting passwords;
  • email creation;
  • sharing permissions;
  • basic desktop support for Microsoft Office and third-party programs.

More complex work includes:

  • Windows server management.
  • Active Directory and Exchange Management.

Software used

  • Microsoft (Windows Server 2012-2016; Active Directory; HyperV; RDS; Exchange; Windows workstations; Office; Visio)

Job specifications

Qualifications needed:

Basic IT diploma

Nice to have: MCSA; MCSE

Experience needed:

Minimum of 5 years’ helpdesk support experience. Candidate should be a level 2 support engineer.

Some to average knowledge: virtualization technologies (HyperV); routing and switching (DNS, TCP, IP, HTTPS / HTTP and IMAP / POP / SMTP); Windows workstations; Windows servers (Exchange, MsSQL, DNS, AD, File Server, VPN, RDP / terminal server, Powershell and ISS); and wireless equipment.

Some knowledge: Office 365; Dropbox Business; and Google Suite.

Skills

Proficient in systematic problem-solving.

Emotional characteristics

Patient; decent work ethic; positive outlook; caring and friendly.

Sensory demands

Working in an open-plan office you must be able to focus on own work, yet assist another technician should you realize they are making an error. Carefully listening to, hearing and deciphering a client’s explanation of a problem to ensure you understand the issue completely, will be very advantageous.

Salary
